Therapy has several advantages, including providing support, problem-solving skills, and improved coping strategies for issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, marital problems, grief and loss, unresolved childhood issues, body image concerns, and stress management. Therapists can offer a new perspective on challenging issues or guide you toward solutions. The effectiveness of treatment and its impact on you depend on how well you utilize it and apply what you learn.
As everyone encounters challenging situations, there is absolutely nothing wrong with seeking extra help when needed. Therapy is, in fact, for individuals who are self-aware enough to recognize that they require assistance, which is admirable. In other words, you acknowledge where you are and commit to changing the situation by attending therapy. Therapy provides benefits and support, giving you tools to overcome your challenges.
Therapy will differ for each individual as everyone has different issues and therapy goals. You can expect to discuss what's happening in your life currently, relevant personal history, progress since your last session, and any new insights gained. Therapy can be short-term, focusing on a specific issue, or longer-term, addressing recurring problems or personal growth, depending on the client's needs. Regular meetings with your therapist, typically once a week, yield better results when you actively participate. The aim of therapy is to help clients apply what they've learned during sessions to their daily lives. Alongside sessions, your therapist may suggest activities to aid your progress between sessions, such as reading relevant books, journaling, observing behaviors, or pursuing goals. Those seeking psychotherapy are prepared to make positive changes, embrace new perspectives, and take responsibility for their lives.

Depending on personal preferences and needs, virtual therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy for many individuals. The advantages of e-counselling include convenience, accessibility, long-distance support, flexibility, therapeutic intimacy, and additional opportunities for communication. However, disadvantages such as unreliable technology and inefficiency for serious mental health problems exist. If this occurs, I will make every effort to identify and resolve the issue so that our session can proceed smoothly.
Therapy sessions vary in length based on the requirements and goals of each client. You can start or stop whenever it's convenient for you; there is no obligation. While some people choose longer-term therapy that lasts many months or years, others benefit from shorter-term therapy that lasts a few weeks to a few months. We can conclude our work whenever you decide to end our treatment sessions.
In the beginning, when you start facing challenging thoughts and emotions you have previously avoided, heightened emotional discomfort can be a regular aspect of the healing process. Nevertheless, these experiences of distress may serve as an essential foundation for future progress. However, it is crucial to prioritize your well-being and your capacity to be open and receptive during therapy. We will always move forward at a pace that honors your limits, ensuring that your informed consent and permission are at the core of each step of the therapeutic process.
